Power handling max. 100W. Maximum current is 8 Amp.
Using a separate power supply for the FAN and opamp has several advantages:
- The fan is a 12V fan. Some form of voltage regulator is needed anyway.
- Enough drive for the FETs. The IRFP450 requires more than 4V Vgs to fully
turn on. This is not possible if the opamp is powered from a 5V,
or worse a 3.3V, power-supply-under-test.
- Maximum allowed Vgs (30V) is never reached.
- Minimum load current is 0 Amps. Powering the fan from the
power-supply-under-test would give a minimum load current of 0.16 Amps.
